WB. DC Studios, Discovery's newly formed division, will be led by director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran.

Among Safran's credits are the Conjuring franchise, Gunn's DC work, and James Wan's Aquaman movies for DC, while Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are his DC projects.

The new duo will not oversee Todd Phillips' Joker sequel, which is siloed from the DCEU.

Warner film bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy had seen Gunn and Safran talking, but it was put down to Gunn pitching potential movies.

On November 1, Gunn and Safran will report directly to Warner Bros. president and CEO David Zaslav.
